Education Week

Education Week is from Monday 21^st May until Friday 25^th May.  This is a special week where we can all celebrate and share what is happening in our school.  Each day during this week will have a different focus and parents are invited to attend any or all of the days and the activities.  The program for the week is:

• Monday 21^st- Literacy
• Tuesday 22^nd – Open Morning
• Wednesday 23^rd- Reading
• Thursday 24^th – Numeracy
• Friday 25^th – ICT

Friday lunch time we will celebrate the culmination of Education week with a "Community Lunch."

ICT News

On Friday 27^th April I attended a Professional Development day held at Edumazing in Werribee about blogging.  This PD was very inspiring and motivating; and during the day participants had the opportunity to begin their own blog. I made mine an ICT Blog!Over the last couple of weeks I have shared the blog with each of the classes during their ICT lessons.  In most sessions I have added a post about what happened in the class, adding either photos or movies.  Teachers and students have also had the opportunity to comment about posts on the blog.  We have also discussed appropriate commenting, including the protocol for spelling when posting or commenting on the ICT Blog.

I would love for parents and other family members to have a look at the ICT Blog and make comments of their own.

You will notice on the blog a map of the world.  Each time someone visits the blog the number of visitors increases.  The country where they viewed the blog from is also marked on the map – I am having a competition with myself to see how many different countries I can get on my map.  Since we have such a multicultural community I hope you can pass on the blog link to family members or friends overseas and help me to increase the number of countries on my map.  The students are also very interested to see how many countries I can get and which ones will show up on the map – thanks for helping me. Next term all the classes will be blogging!

Classroom Helpers Program

Last Thursday, we began our Classroom Helpers Program.  The group of parents who participated looked at how we can support our students in the classrooms and at home.  Last week focused on Speaking and Listening.  This Thursday (17^th), our session will focus on Reading and Writing.  We would love to see as many parents as possible come for the session.  Once again it will be in the PD centre from 9.00 – 10.00 am. 

Please note that due to Education Week (21^st May – 25^th May), that the Numeracy session will now be held on Thursday 31^st May at the same time.
