Footscray North Primary School Working Bee
Saturday, 23rd May, 9:30am - 11:00am
We are inviting parents, carers and friends of Footscray North to join us in a working bee on Saturday, 23rd May between 9:30am and 11:00am. We will mainly focus on tidying up the garden beds and a few extra tasks that need doing around the school. It would be wonderful to have as many people here as possible.
If you are free to come, please complete the following slip and return it to the office no later than Wednesday, 20th May, so we can provide enough morning tea for everyone. Please bring with you (if you have them), garden gloves and rakes.

Message from our School Council
Who is the School Council? We are a group of 7 parents and 5 school staff who work closely with the school to ensure that the students of Footscray North receive the best learning experience and strong results. We meet twice a month and discuss matters ranging from school uniform and toilet renovations to teaching methods and NAPLAN results.
In the April meetings we discussed the recent school strategy review - which outlines where the school is going in the next 5 years. This was both a great celebration of the school's accomplishments and a chance to reflect and plan on what lies ahead. The strategy plan is undergoing various final reviews and will then shared with the school community.
Another major talking point was the closing of the parent carpark. Footscray North has been fortunate in having a parent carpark - not many schools do - but unfortunately going forward we'll have to find other arrangements. Our top priority in the school council is to ensure that the children are safe throughout the changes. Look out for carpark updates in the newsletter.
In the May meeting we will continue working on the school strategy plan and the pending carpark changes. We will also be doing minor reviews for a number of school policies. Photos of the 7 parent members will be taken and then shared with the school community. Once you know what we look like, feel free to stop us for a chat if you see us around at school, and tell us your feedback (or concerns) about the school.
Did you know? School Council meetings are open to all parents. Speak to the office to find out when and where the next meeting is. Dates and times are also published in the newsletter.
Mr. Eldo Lukman
School Council President.
Parent Carpark Update
As you are now aware, there will not be any parent carparking facilities from Monday 1st June. In the next few weeks, you will notice that the carpark off May Street will be undergoing major refurbishment so that it is able to be used as the new staff carpark.
From Monday 1st June, the main pedestrian access points for the school will be from the two pedestrian entrances from Rosamond Road. We strongly encourage you to be aware of the on street carparking areas near the school so that you are prepared on the 1st June.
A new pedestrian access point will be constructed from Mephan Street once the new staff carpark is operational. Once again, the school will keep you informed during this construction time.
